Freemix Complaints

Please read the following carefully if you have a complaint about a Freemix hosted at Freemix.it. Some general points:

  • Before contacting us, please consider contacting the creator of the Freemix directly if you take issue with their Freemix. This will often work to resolve an issue immediately without involving us (or worse, lawyers). Some Freemixes list their contact info, and some allow you to leave comments that will get sent to the Freemix owner.
  • We only host Freemixes that have "freemix.it" in their URL or that say "powered by Freemix.it." We have no control over other Web sites.
  • We take complaints seriously, but please be aware that unless a Freemix clearly violates our Terms of Service we won't disable it.
  • Below are the official ways to contact us for various issues. Emails, voice mails, etc that are sent elsewhere will not get the desired response.
  • Thanks to the folks at Automattic for developing a complaint policy for bloggers that is very close to what we needed for Freemix.it.

Copyright violations

If a Freemix features content that is owned by you (and you did not authorize your content to be published by the Freemix in question), please use our DMCA reporting process. We respond to all properly formatted DMCA complaints.

Defamation, abuse, threats

If you find defamatory, abusive or threatening content on a Freemix, you can report it to support@freemix.it. However, please first take a look at this Electronic Frontier Foundation page on defamation law. Note that negative personal opinions are not considered defamation. In other words, someone calling you names or insulting you on their Freemix is not necessarily grounds for shutting them down. Instead of asking us to suspend such a Freemix, please consider either responding in the Freemix’s comments (if enabled) or on your own Freemix/blog/site to set the record straight, or simply ignoring the issue (Freemixes that use insults and bad language tend to have low credibility and low traffic in the first place). When reporting defamatory or abusive Freemixes, please provide specific links and/or quotations of the offending material. If the Freemix is written in a language other than English, make sure you provide a translation.

Offensive material

Unless content is illegal or threatening (or otherwise violates our Terms of Service), we will not suspend it. This section on offensive content and censorship at NearlyFreeSpeech.net captures our feelings on the topic.

Spam Freemixes

Please email support@freemix.it to report spam Freemixes. We will immediately suspend any spam Freemixes.

Mature Freemixes

Please email support@freemix.it to report Freemixes with mature topics (erotica, porn, etc). Mature Freemixes are welcome on Freemix.it, but we will mark them in our system so they don’t show up in public listings.
